Just A Whisper In The Night...
The black she-cat sat silently, her silvery eyes fixed on the shadows. Sleek, pure black fur ran down the length of her body, and she made not a sound as she sat there, not stirring. A crack resounded through the forest, loud compared to the previous moment's silence. She flicked a black ear, and her dark pupils moved upward a fraction of an inch to observe the directed from which the crack came from. Of course, it had happened a ways away, but she looked nevertheless. The soft tickle of the late evening wind lifted a few of the hairs on her sleek pelt, playing with them lightly before dropping them again, and moving on to find new amusement. The clouds passed, the moon rose in the sky, and she sat until it had traveled several fox-lengths across the starry terrain. Finally she moved more than a fraction, raising her head to look up at the star spangled sky overhead. The constellations for indecipherable shapes, but one set of stars she focused on almost seemed to resemble a cat. The Riverclan warrior smiled to herself, it was just a slight change in her pointed features, but it was there.

Mistedjewel padded over and dipped her head to her fellow warrior. She gave her a questioning glance, asking if she could sit beside her. She dare not break the beautiful silence of the night.

Her eyes moved downward, silently traveling to the other warrior. The glance was understood, and she nodded. She did not mind if her clanmate joined her in this silent vigil, though soon the moon would begin to set and she would have to sleep. But there was night left yet, and she would continue to watch the stars that hung so far and silent in the sky. It was the glittering light of distant worlds, and lights in the eyes and the stars in the pelts of their ancestors. Her optics reflected their light back to them as they turned down to look at the glittering stream at her feet. The black and cold water shone as the peaks of tiny waves were lit by the moon above, as if reaching for the light that they could never quite catch. She would have verbally acknowledged Mistedjewl's presence, however the she-cat would not speak until the moon began to set and the sun to start it's travels up the tall sky above.

The she-cat smiled ever so faintly, her features accented as the silver light stretched down from the sky, pouring itself all over her. The silvery color of her fur mixed with that of the stars, and her blue eyes were a pair of bright orbs popping out in the fantastic mess of silver and black.
